About Milk Kefir Grains

Milk Kefir is a delicious fermented milk beverage loaded with live cultures similar to yogurt but even better. To this date, the real origins remain unknown and attempts to manufacture it in science labs have failed. This makes it a REAL food that cannot be artificially produced.

It comprises of 50+ beneficial bacteria and yeast strains (please see below for a list of some of them) which help stimulate and regulate your immune system and digestion. This cannot be matched by commercial yoghurts and probiotic supplements which on average have around 3 – 5 strains. I personally consume kefir on a regular basis which has eliminated my hayfever and eczma which I had since I was a child!

Authentic kefir can only be made by real kefir grains, and the powder packets sold in health stores are mere imitations which consists of only a few probiotic strains and can only be used up to 5 batches.

Kefir is simply milk that is fermented at room temperature with kefir grains for about 24-48 hours. It has many wonderful health benefits, a great flavor and is also tolerated well by the lactose intolerant as it can be fermented to point where it is virtually lactose free. It’s much easier to make than yogurt, has a larger spectrum of probiotics and the grains live for as long as you take care of them unlike yogurt cultures which weakens in each successive batches.

Expiry Date and Packaging

These Kefir grains are packaging in 2 layers of plastic bags to prevent any spillage. We highly recommend you to purchase the kefir grains via the Express Post option so they do not stay too long in transit but as these are living fermented products, they will last approximately 2 weeks without any food from the day of dispatch.
